Road trips and adventures in a recreational vehicle (RV) offer the freedom to explore the great outdoors while enjoying the comforts of home. However, one aspect that can make or break the experience is the quality of sleep you get while traveling in an RV. Thankfully, with a little preparation and some helpful tips, you can ensure a better night's rest on the road, making your journey even more enjoyable.
Invest in a Quality Mattress: One of the most crucial factors affecting your sleep quality is the mattress you sleep on. Most RVs come with stock mattresses, which are often thin and uncomfortable. Consider investing in a high-quality mattress specifically designed for RVs, ensuring optimal support and comfort. Memory foam mattresses or air mattresses are popular choices for RVs due to their ability to conform to your body, relieve pressure points, and provide a good night's sleep.
Upgrade Your Bedding: To enhance your sleeping experience, it's essential to have the right bedding. Upgrade your RV's bedding to include high-quality sheets, cozy blankets, and comfortable pillows. Opt for moisture-wicking and breathable materials that can help regulate your body temperature, especially when traveling in extreme weather conditions.
Block Out Light and Noise: While RVs offer a cozy shelter, they can sometimes be subject to outside disturbances that hinder a peaceful slumber. Install blackout curtains or shades to block out excess light, ensuring a darker environment conducive to sleep. Additionally, consider using earplugs or a white noise machine to drown out any external noise, such as traffic or campground activities, which can disrupt your sleep patterns.
Maintain a Consistent Sleep Routine: Sticking to a regular sleep schedule can work wonders for your sleep quality on the road. Try to maintain consistent bedtimes and wake-up times, even if your travel plans vary. This helps regulate your body's internal clock and promotes better sleep overall. Additionally, establish a calming bedtime routine that includes activities like reading a book or taking a warm shower, signaling to your body that it's time to wind down and prepare for sleep.
Optimize Temperature and Ventilation: Temperature control can significantly impact sleep quality. Ensure your RV is properly insulated and equipped with an efficient air conditioning or heating system, depending on the weather conditions you anticipate. Maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature by using fans or heaters as needed, allowing for a restful night's sleep.
Minimize Vibrations and Motion: The movement and vibrations caused by an RV in motion can impact your sleep. To minimize this, park your RV on level ground whenever possible, reducing the amount of movement you feel while sleeping. Additionally, consider using stabilizing jacks to further minimize vibrations. These steps can significantly improve your sleep quality and make you feel more refreshed upon waking up.
Prioritize Comfort and Ergonomics: Finally, make your sleeping space as comfortable and ergonomic as possible. Consider investing in memory foam mattress toppers or pillows that conform to your body, providing extra support and relief. Adjust your sleeping position and add extra cushions or pillows as needed to ensure proper alignment and reduce discomfort.
In conclusion, getting a good night's sleep while traveling in an RV is crucial for an enjoyable journey. By investing in a quality mattress, upgrading your bedding, blocking out light and noise, maintaining a consistent sleep routine, optimizing temperature and ventilation, minimizing vibrations, and prioritizing comfort and ergonomics, you can significantly enhance the quality of your RV sleeping experience. So, go ahead and hit the road, knowing that a restful night awaits you in your home on wheels!
]]>A good night's sleep is essential for overall health and well-being. And one of the most critical factors that contribute to a quality sleep experience is a comfortable mattress. However, it's surprising how often people overlook the importance of a good mattress and continue to sleep on old, worn-out ones. So, why do people buy new mattresses? Let's explore some reasons.
Comfort and Support: One of the primary reasons people choose to invest in a new mattress is for enhanced comfort and support. As mattresses age, they naturally become less supportive, leading to discomfort and possible body aches. Over time, the materials in a mattress wear down, lose their ability to properly support the body, and may even develop lumps or sagging areas. These issues can significantly impact the quality of sleep and result in waking up feeling tired and unrested. Purchasing a new mattress offers the opportunity to choose a model that suits individual comfort preferences and provides optimal support for a restful sleep experience.
Relief from Pain and Discomfort: Many individuals suffer from various forms of pain, such as back pain, neck pain, or joint pain. An old mattress that fails to provide proper support can exacerbate these conditions, making it harder for people to find relief. Investing in a new mattress can alleviate these discomforts by providing better support and pressure relief. Manufacturers have developed specific mattresses designed to target specific areas, such as the back or joints, ensuring proper spine alignment and reducing pain. People often find that upgrading to a mattress designed for their specific pain needs significantly improves their sleep and overall quality of life.
Improved Sleep Quality: A new mattress can greatly enhance sleep quality. By providing proper support, reducing pressure points, and maintaining a comfortable temperature, a quality mattress can have a significant impact on the duration and depth of sleep. It promotes a more consistent sleep pattern, allowing individuals to wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized. Better sleep quality has numerous benefits, including improved mood, increased productivity, and enhanced overall health.
Hygiene and Allergies: Mattresses can accumulate dust mites, allergens, and bacteria over time. These microscopic pests and allergens can trigger allergies and respiratory issues, such as asthma or hay fever. Regular cleaning and maintenance can only do so much to prevent these problems. Therefore, for individuals with allergies or respiratory conditions, investing in a new mattress can provide relief and promote a cleaner, healthier sleep environment.
Lifestyle Changes: Life is constantly evolving, and so are our needs. Changes in lifestyle may require a new mattress. For example, moving to a new home, starting a family, or accommodating a partner's different sleep preferences may call for a larger or different type of mattress. Mattresses are available in various sizes, materials, and firmness levels, allowing individuals to find one that suits their needs and preferences.
In conclusion, people buy new mattresses for various reasons, ranging from comfort and support to pain relief and improved sleep quality. Investing in a new mattress is an investment in one's overall health and well-being. A good mattress promotes proper rest, reduces discomfort, and provides a clean and healthy sleep environment. So, if you find yourself tossing and turning at night or waking up feeling tired and achy, it may be time to consider investing in a new mattress that will help you get the quality sleep you deserve.

When it comes to recreational vehicles (RVs), one may assume that everything is downsized, including the mattress sizes. However, the reality is a bit more complicated. While some RVs do have smaller sized mattresses, there are also standard mattress sizes in some RVs. So, are RV mattress sizes different? Let's delve deeper into this topic.
RVs come in various sizes and types, from compact campervans to spacious motorhomes. As a result, the mattress sizes can vary depending on the specific RV model. Some smaller RVs may indeed have mattresses that are smaller than the traditional sizes found in regular homes. These smaller mattresses are usually designed to fit the limited space available in these smaller RVs, where space optimization is crucial.
That being said, many modern RVs now come with standard mattress sizes that are similar to those found in regular homes. These standard RV mattress sizes include Twin, Full, Queen, and King, just like the standard mattress sizes we are accustomed to. In fact, most RV manufacturers often use the same mattress sizes found in residential homes, making it easier for RV owners to find suitable replacement mattresses or bedding.
It is worth noting that even if an RV has a standard-sized mattress, there may still be some differences compared to a traditional home mattress. These differences are primarily due to the specific requirements of an RV. For example, RV mattresses are often designed to be lightweight and durable to withstand the constant movement of the vehicle. They may also be made from materials that are more resistant to moisture and temperature variations, as RVs are exposed to different weather conditions.
Furthermore, RV mattresses may have different thicknesses compared to regular mattresses. This is again due to space constraints, as RVs have limited space for bedding. RV mattresses are usually slimmer to fit into the designated sleeping area without obstructing other functions or storage spaces within the vehicle.
While some RV owners may prefer to stick with the original mattress provided by the manufacturer, others may choose to replace it with a more comfortable or customized option. Thankfully, due to the growing popularity of RV travel, there are now various companies specializing in RV mattresses. These companies offer a wide range of options, including memory foam, latex, or hybrid mattresses, specifically designed for RVs. These mattresses are available in both standard and custom sizes, catering to the different needs and preferences of RV owners.
In conclusion, the answer to the question "Are RV mattress sizes different?" is both yes and no. While some RVs do have smaller mattresses to fit the limited space, many RVs now come with standard mattress sizes similar to those found in regular homes. The purpose of RV mattresses is to provide comfort while considering the unique requirements of RV travel, such as durability, weight, and space optimization. Whether you stick with the original mattress or opt for a replacement, there are plenty of options available to ensure a good night's sleep during your RV adventures.
]]>Whether you're embarking on a cross-country road trip or simply enjoying a weekend getaway, having a comfortable and restful sleep is essential for making the most out of your RV experience. However, many RV mattresses tend to be thin and uncomfortable, causing discomfort and restless nights. If you find yourself tossing and turning on your RV mattress, fear not! In this article, we will explore some practical ways to improve your RV mattress and enhance your sleeping experience on the road.
Replace the Mattress: One of the most effective ways to improve your RV mattress is to replace it altogether. Most factory-installed mattresses in RVs are often thin and lack proper support. Consider investing in a high-quality RV-specific mattress, which provides better comfort and support tailored to the unique dimensions of your RV bed. Look for options that offer a mix of comfort layers, such as memory foam or latex, combined with supportive base layers to ensure a restful sleep.
Add a Mattress Topper: If replacing the mattress is not an immediate option, adding a mattress topper can significantly enhance your sleeping experience. Mattress toppers come in various materials and thicknesses, allowing you to customize your comfort level. Memory foam toppers, for instance, mold to your body's shape, relieving pressure points and promoting better spinal alignment. Additionally, mattress toppers help minimize motion transfer, which is particularly useful if you share the bed with a partner.
Use Quality Bedding: Choosing the right bedding can also make a noticeable difference in the comfort of your RV mattress. Opt for high-quality, breathable sheets, preferably made from natural fibers like cotton or bamboo, to improve airflow and prevent overheating during warmer nights. Additionally, investing in a good-quality mattress protector can extend the lifespan of your mattress while providing an extra layer of comfort and hygiene.
Consider Adjustable Bed Platforms: Some RV owners have found great comfort by replacing their traditional bed platforms with adjustable ones. Adjustable bed platforms allow you to customize your bed's position, providing personalized support to various parts of your body. These platforms are particularly beneficial if you suffer from back pain or prefer to sleep with your head or feet elevated.
Enhance Support with Pillows: Alongside mattress improvements, using supportive pillows can further enhance your sleep quality. Invest in pillows that offer proper neck and spinal alignment, ensuring that your head and neck are adequately supported throughout the night. Pillows made from memory foam, for example, can contour to your head's shape, providing optimal comfort and reducing the likelihood of waking up with a stiff neck.
Maintain Your Mattress: Regular maintenance is crucial for extending the lifespan and comfort of your RV mattress. Rotate or flip your mattress periodically to even out wear and tear. Even using mattress protectors helps protect your mattress and even cool them down. Vacuuming your mattress surface occasionally can help remove dust and allergens, keeping it fresh and clean. Additionally, airing out your RV regularly, especially after periods of storage, can reduce the accumulation of moisture and prevent mold or mildew growth.
In conclusion, a good night's sleep is essential for a memorable and enjoyable RV journey. By following these tips, you can significantly improve the comfort of your RV mattress. Whether you choose to replace the mattress, add a topper, or invest in adjustable platforms, remember that personal preferences vary. Experiment with different options to find the perfect combination that suits your needs, ensuring that every night on the road is comfortable and rejuvenating. Safe travels!
]]>RVs offer a fantastic way to explore new destinations and embark on thrilling adventures. However, one aspect that often leaves much to be desired is the quality of mattresses typically found in these vehicles. Many RV owners and frequent travelers can attest to the discomfort and poor sleep quality experienced on these subpar bedding surfaces. In this article, we explore the reasons why RV mattresses are often so bad and why it's crucial to consider alternatives for a restful night's sleep.
One of the primary reasons for the lackluster quality of RV mattresses is cost-cutting measures by manufacturers. RV manufacturers often prioritize keeping their vehicles affordable, which means they may compromise on the quality of mattresses to save costs. As a result, these mattresses are usually made from inexpensive materials with minimal cushioning, support, and durability.
Another factor contributing to the dissatisfaction with RV mattresses is the limited available space within the vehicle. RVs are designed to maximize living space while minimizing weight, and this often translates into compact sleeping areas. Mattresses for RVs are usually thinner and narrower than standard mattresses, compromising comfort and leaving occupants vulnerable to pressure points and inadequate support.
To cut costs, many RV mattresses are made using cheap materials such as low-density foam, polyester, or even cheap coils with minimal padding. These subpar materials lack the ability to contour to the body, provide sufficient support, or regulate temperature effectively. Additionally, the construction of these mattresses is often hasty, resulting in uneven surfaces, lumps, and uneven firmness.
Unlike traditional mattresses, RV mattresses are typically designed as a one-size-fits-all solution. Unfortunately, this means that RV owners are unable to choose a mattress that suits their individual sleep preferences. Factors like body weight, sleeping positions, and any specific comfort requirements are often overlooked. This lack of customization can lead to restless nights and dissatisfaction with the bedding provided.
RV mattresses often endure prolonged periods of storage or are subjected to various climatic conditions, including humidity, temperature fluctuations, and limited air circulation. These factors can contribute to the development of mold, mildew, and unpleasant odors. Owners may not be aware of the importance of adequate mattress maintenance, leading to further discomfort and the accumulation of allergens.
In the end, RVs offer a convenient way to travel and explore, it is essential to acknowledge the drawbacks of the mattresses typically found in these vehicles. Manufacturers' cost-cutting measures, limited space constraints, cheap materials, lack of customization options, and poor maintenance practices all contribute to the subpar quality of RV mattresses. Recognizing the importance of a good night's sleep, is why Off-Road Bedding started building premium RV mattresses, foam toppers, and other sleep accessories that make RV nights better. That way travelers can enhance their overall comfort, well-being, and enjoyment of their adventures on the road with a better nights sleep.

Let’s take a look at the different types of drivable RVs out there. This will help you further narrow down your options so you know just what you’re looking for when you start shopping for an RV to rent or buy.
Generally speaking, class As are the biggest of the drivable RVs (though there are some smaller models out there). These are the motorhomes that look like buses and are often referred to as coaches. They tend to offer the most living space, but also have the biggest learning curve when it comes to learning to drive them.
The class C RV is what many people think of when they think “motorhome.” This is the rig that looks a lot like a moving van. They are built on a van chassis and have a piece that juts out over the cab to make space for a bed, or sometimes an entertainment center. Class C RVs drive a lot like a van, making them relatively easy to drive, but they also tend to be smaller than class A RVs.
Finally, there is the class B RV, or campervan. This is a much smaller rig, typically built into a cargo van. They don’t have slides and there isn’t much room for many amenities or extras. Instead, they provide just the basics in an easy-to-drive vehicle that can take you adventuring anywhere.

Approximately one year ago, We (on a complete whim) made a huge decision to sell our home of 7 years and take the plunge on a complete fixer upper! Our previous home was perfect for us, just the right size, and most of the renovations we wanted to do were done. We had absolutely loved our time in that home, those walls held many precious moments and memories. One November (wine filled) evening, we discovered that a home in our dream neighborhood was for sale. It’s the neighborhood that my husband grew up in, and we had family still there. We knew we’d have the community we had been craving there. We had to move fast! The next day we looked at it, and immediately submitted an offer!
Once we got in to see the home, we were a bit shocked as to just how much needed to be done. It was one of those moments where we had to really use our imaginations and channel our inner Chip and Jo! Thank goodness we could see past the disaster, because we are (very) slowly turning this home into our forever dream home!
Once we got the keys, we got to work! We decided to focus on the upstairs first, since that is where the bedrooms are. We had to remove approximately 963,245 shelves and patch all of the holes, paint every surface, rip out all of the carpet and tile, paint bathroom vanities and replace fixtures. Oh and did I mention that during this process, for a bit over 1 month, we lived in our downstairs family room? We slept on 2 very uncomfortable full size mattresses, ALL 4 OF US! Good thing I really like my family!
When all of the major work was done upstairs, we could finally get into our own rooms. Hallelujah! We put all of our focus on our bedrooms and bonus room. Our girls got to decorate their rooms how they wanted; the Tween daughter chose a chill nature-ey vibe, while the youngest chose a cloud and rainbow vibe! Still working on finding the vibe I want in the master, but I do know I want it to be relaxing and cozy. Since we had all had our beds for a good while, we all got new mattresses! I loathe mattress shopping! There are so many options out there, it gets very overwhelming. And with the lockdown we couldn't get to a store to test any out. We finally chose to go with the 13” Luxury Cooling Mattress from the home line of Off-Road Bedding for our master, and for the girls we chose the 14” Cooling Pillowtop Mattress. We are so happy with that decision! I am happy to report that we are all enjoying the best sleep of our lives! I highly recommend checking out the Home line at offroadbedding.com if you are in the market for a new mattress. Best part, they have a 100 night risk free sleep trial! And FREE shipping!
With the new year quickly approaching, I’ve started to think about prioritizing upcoming house projects. I love to start each new year with a priority board. My husband and I sit down together and think of all the projects we’d like to accomplish throughout the year, we write them out on 3x5 notecards and add an estimated cost. We pin them up on a big cork board and hang it in our home office where we can always see it. It's such a great visual, and who doesn’t love crossing things off of your to-do list?! So satisfying!
2020 sure as heck didn’t go the way we planned (suck it, Covid!), so we are a bit behind on the renovations. Now that we can focus again, I’m really looking forward to continuing down the renovation road, making this our forever dream home!
Have you had enough of your tired boring mattress? If you read the blog post about my home renovations, you know that we were! So over them. We had 3 that we needed to dispose of, so we hopped on the world wide web and figured out how to ditch the trashy mattresses properly. So when the time came for the mattress swap in the trailer, we were already one step ahead in the process. We knew exactly what to do. And thanks to my deep dive of research, now you will too.
Did you know that the average lifespan of a mattress is 7-8 years? I did not know that! We had lost so many nights of “good sleep” because we had just kept our mattress for far too long. So when you finally take the steps towards better sleep, you’ll need to dispose of your old mattress responsibly.
There are a few ways to dispose properly, but before you move forward, make sure you take these things into consideration…
Does my old mattress have any spills or stains?
Is my old mattress (totally gross, and No! I'm not accusing you of this, Karen) infested with bed bugs?
Is there major damage? A tear or rip anywhere? Just make sure you keep the details of those rips to yourself, OK?!
If any of these apply, don’t worry, I got you! You will still have options.
If your mattress is in decent condition, you have plenty of options.
Donate it. Places like The Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity will accept your old mattress. The Salvation Army caters to families in need, so you can feel good, knowing that your mattress is being used to help a family. They require the mattress to be in good condition, and bonus, it is a tax-deductible donation. You can drop off at your nearest location or schedule a pick-up.
Sell it. You can list your used mattress on sites like Craigslist, Offer-up, Letgo and even community apps like Nextdoor. Just make sure you’re posting accurate photos and descriptions. And sell for a fair price. Just know that you’re not gonna get top dollar for that beat old thing.
If your mattress is just too bad to donate, consider recycling it. I had no clue that 80-90% of mattress parts could be reused for creating new products, did you? There is a company called BYE BYE Mattress that will take used mattresses and collect a small fee to convert your waste to recycling. And a positive to that, the city landfills and incinerators are less crowded, as old mattresses are recycled and turned into new, useful products.
Just make sure that when you are disposing of your junky trailer mattress, you don't follow your inner rebel and burn it in a campfire in the middle of Glamis! I know, how rad would that fire be, but no! Be a good human and keep our deserts clean! Speaking of keeping the deserts clean, have you heard of the Glamis Black Bag Project? If not, go check out their Facebook page and see how you can help. GBBP was created by Dave and Jenn Karbginsky of AXA Offroad. They are dedicated to keeping Glamis clean for all to enjoy by scheduling cleans at least two times a month. Pretty cool!
Whatever you decide to do, do it responsibly. Stay crazy and rad, and then enjoy your restful, renewing sleep in your new mattress. And don’t forget to check out Off-Road Bedding for all of your sleep needs!

]]>I’m sorry… Did you say TRASH CAN turkey?
Why YES! Yes I did. Hear me out on this one....
Thanksgiving is and always will be my husband's “Superbowl” of all the holidays. He researches, plans and creates the perfect turkey recipe during the months leading up to Thanksgiving. His goal is to always top the previous year's recipe. And he always does. ALWAYS!
A few years ago he got a bee in his bonnet to have a second Thanksgiving during our camping trip the weekend after the big day. Once he convinced me on that seemingly crazy plan, we knew it had to be amazing and of course EASY!
Enter the trash can turkey.
You might not believe me when I tell you just how easy this process really is. With minimal supplies, in no time you’ll be enjoying one of the most tender and juicy turkeys ever! Serve this up with some of the leftover sides you will surely have and dig in!
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
STEPS:
Use the lid of your brand new trash can to heat the charcoal briquets.
While your charcoal is heating up, drive your 1 x1 piece of lumber about 1 foot into the ground, wrap the lumber in aluminum foil and place the cut beer can on top of the lumber.
Cover the ground with plenty of aluminum foil so that the turkey will not come into contact with the ground. Place the loaf pans full of water on either side of the lumber (this will create the steam you’ll need).
Once your charcoal is white-hot, lay your turkey to rest on its beer can bed, and tie up its legs just like you would if you were baking it. Then send your turkey off to its eternal nap with all the well wishes and place the overturned trash can on top of the turkey. Make sure your turkey has plenty of room, You don't want the turkey to touch the can, otherwise it will just burn. Place half of the briquets on top of the trash can, and spread the other half on the ground around the perimeter of the trash can, making sure they touch the trash can. Cook the turkey for 3-4 hours WITHOUT looking. If you peek and disrupt the heat, you will have to finish the turkey in the oven or on the grill, and I’ve never met an RV or trailer oven that can accommodate a turkey.
And that my friends is the hardest part of trash can turkey! NO PEEKING!
And after you have eaten and you are in your tryptophan induced coma, lay your head to rest on your Off-Road bedding rv mattress and have sweet dreams of the most amazing turkey ever!
Trust the process, trust me! You will never want to cook a turkey any other way!
]]>You've made the exciting decision to hit the wide open road for some good clean (or muddy) old fashioned fun! And while the thought of unplugging and spending so much quality time with your family sounds absolutely wonderful, You might also be feeling a sense of anxiety and claustrophobia.
It may seem utterly impossible to maintain your sanity in a small space for an extended amount of time, but I promise you, IT’S NOT! It just might take some time to get your system for maintaining a Happy Campsite down to a science!
Back in 2013, my family made the decision to purchase our first trailer. It was the best decision ever! So many amazing family memories were made in that trailer. We had a lot of trial and error while we mapped out our system. Lots of late night arrival’s to our destinations, lots of frustration while trying to set up camp and our trailer. Lots of cuss words, and lots of necessary anxiety relieving beers. I will never forget our first trip, we were so excited! But we were also a bunch of newbs out there! It was a shit show, quite literally!
Here are some tips that I wish I had known before we hit the road.
DO A COMPLETE TRAILER WALK THROUGH
Make sure you do a thorough inspection of your trailer. Even if it is brand spanking new like ours was. Check the plumbing, check the thermostat. Check the dump valves. Check it all! We discovered that our water heater was not working on our first night out. We had gotten the babies ready for their bath but soon discovered we couldn't get hot water! Thank goodness for friends who let us bathe our babes in their tubs!
Remember when I said that our first trip was a “shit show”? Well here’s why… After our weekend of fun we stopped at a dump station to empty the black tank. My poor husband! You guys… Literal shit came pouring out as he opened the valve to put the hose in. The valve gate that keeps the water in while you attach the hose was missing! VERY important piece! Black water was everywhere! It was horrific, the stuff of nightmares.
GET YOUR TRAILER READY BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT
Always make the beds before you head out for the weekend. There is nothing worse than having to make a bed when all you want to do is have fun! Pro tip: upgrade your basic mattress and bedding. We chose a mattress from Off-Road bedding and we’ve never been happier! Their mattresses, bamboo sheets and pillows are the stuff that dreams are made of. Check out offroadbedding.com and make those upgrades!
And if you have a husband who snoring sounds like a chainsaw, then maybe you might want to invest in a hammock!
We always make sure our refrigerator is stocked before we leave as well. Cabinets are stocked with all the junk food that we will need to survive 2 days in the desert. And all of the meals have been decided and prepped, making it easy to pull out ingredients and get dinner going quickly.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Clutter gives me anxiety, it drives me to my breaking point! And clutter in a small space, forget about it! Come up with a cleaning system that works for everyone in the trailer. Assign jobs, just like at home. For example: trash duty, dishes duty, bathroom cleaning duty and sweeping. Get rid of that unnecessary anxiety by delegating!
We are an off-road family, so there is always sand or dirt in the trailer! ALWAYS! Riding boots and gear stays outside in a plastic tub. Make sure you have a broom readily available. Pro tip: get a compact leaf blower for your trailer. Super helpful for getting rid of that pesky sand!
Keep the air clean in your trailer by diffusing some essential oils. My favorite clean smelling combo is lemon, lavender and peppermint! And as a bonus, your trailer will smell like a relaxing spa and not a bonfire!
Finding your zen through the chaos of first time camping is possible!
Cheers to making memories!

OFF-ROAD BEDDING PUTS AN END TO BORING CAMPER BEDS
Off-Road Bedding shakes up the sleepy RV, toy hauler, and motorhome mattress worlds with leading recovery sleep technology and an authentic rider mentality.
Phoenix, AZ (November 13, 2018) –Off-Road Bedding (ORB) At ORB, we don’t do things like other bedding companies, including press releases. So, if you want to skip this old-fashioned release and go straight to the source for a story, please hit us up at (623) 252-5556 or email us at press@offroadbedding.com. But if you insist on learning more, here goes…
What do you get when you combine hardcore off-road enthusiasts with industry-leading, American-made mattresses and foam toppers? Well, since this press release is from ORB, we’re assuming you can guess the answer.
What you might not guess is the why or how behind ORB.
Tired of the same old in bedding technology and branding, founder Josh Streeter chose a new path. He took his experience in the mattress world, selecting the best in sleep recovery technology, and sized and packaged it specifically for off-road and RV and camping enthusiasts.
“Off-Road Bedding is a lifestyle disguised as a mattress company,” said Streeter. “We believe the world should be explored, experienced, and, most importantly, ridden,” he added.
By putting riders’ comfort and convenience first, ORB hopes to redefine the marketplace. To that end, ORB delivers:
ORB Performance Mattresses feature Far Infrared (FIR) Technology which contributes to
an active body recovery process by harnessing the heat the body produces during sleep and turning it into active energy the body can use to rejuvenate. ORB mattresses also feature TitanCool™ technology that keeps the body cooler to increase comfort and recovery.
ORB believes in its mattresses and stands behind them with a 100-Night Sleep Trial. If riders purchase an ORB mattress and don’t get the best night’s sleep they’ve ever had out on the road, they can donate the mattress to a charity (with proof) and get a full refund. And our mattresses always ship free, in a box, throughout the contiguous United States.
Yep, all of our mattresses and gel foam toppers are made right here in Arizona. We believe in the American worker. We believe in American jobs. And we believe that we can kick ass in a market that’s full of bad night’s sleep, boring middlemen and women, and lousy mattresses from foreign factories filled with unhappy workers.
That’s where our story starts. We’re hoping you’ll join us for the journey as we deliver the unexpected, authentic, and full send it that define the off-road enthusiast lifestyle. And like a great campfire gathering out at the dunes, we’re always here to talk. Hit us up.
About Off-Road Bedding

The entire ORB family rides—and rides hard. They know other off-road enthusiasts are tired of the junk mattresses that come with RVs, toy haulers, sprinters, and motorhomes. Riders deserve a good night’s sleep. And ORB makes the mattresses, foam toppers, and other sleep accessories that make nights at the dunes, trailheads, campgrounds, and off-road areas as good or better than those at home in the best beds. ]]>Like light bulbs or batteries, mattresses tend to be the kind of thing that we don’t give much thought to as long as they’re doing their job. But when the light or a battery stops working, you know right away and replace it ASAP. But unless a mattress pops a spring or breaks somehow, most of us will keep using it long after it probably should have been replaced. Which can spell bad news for your health—and your ability to get a decent night’s rest.
As a mattress ages and begins to wear out, it starts to sag in the middle. So rather than sleeping on a flat, comfortable surface, you end up sleeping on one that’s awkwardly curved in the middle. In fact, one prominent spine expert compared to sleeping in a hole. Which sounds pretty unpleasant, right? Chiropractors agree that sleeping on an old mattress is a recipe for chronic back pain. That can mean tossing and turning through the night to find a more comfortable sleeping position, or simply waking up the next morning feeling stiff and sore.
Over time, the pain itself can make it harder to nod off and stay asleep, which can create a vicious cycle of discomfort and exhaustion. In fact, two-thirds of Americans say that their pain causes sleep problems, according to the National Sleep Foundation. Doesn’t sound so fun.
The best way to get rid of the problems caused by an old, worn-out mattress is simple: Replace it with a new one. Check out Off Road Bedding Mattresses. Whether you need a mattress for your home or your home on wheels we have an option for you. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms from above then a new ORB mattress will help you get the sleep you deserve.
Improving the quality of your sleep can be really easy and the ORB memory foam gel mattress toppers are exactly what you need in order to do so. If your bed feels very uncomfortable and you are unable to rest properly, you should try the ORB memory foam mattress topper .
A few facts about the ORB Memory Foam Gel Topper…
An important benefit to a gel topper is the price. Buying a full-size mattress can be quite expensive, so if you are working with a smaller budget, toppers are exactly what you need. They are generally very light and easy to use and can seriously improve the quality of your regular or old mattress. Toppers start at $69.
While memory foam functions by absorbing heat, liquid gel is a substance that evenly distributes heat, making the mattress topper to feel much cooler than it would if it were just made of memory foam. The added gel feature really will make a difference when traveling.
Our foam is 100% USA made and CertiPur certified. Added bonus!
The soft visco-elastic memory foam will add comfort and increase the quality of sleep immediately. It's a great way to add a bit of plushness to a firm mattress too.
The ORB Memory foam Gel Infused Topper easily conforms to the body, evenly distributing your weight and eliminating pressure points at the shoulders, hips, knees, and feet. Designed using open cell technology, the ORB mattress topper will quickly bounce back to life after use.
Also, if your partner moves a lot during the night and the vibration wakes you up, there is no need to worry about it when sleeping on memory foam. It does not transfer the noise and the movement on the other side of the bed is unnoticeable. Therefore, you will be able to stay asleep for an entire night.
Lastly our Toppers will fit any mattress in your RV or at home. ORB has all sizes available. Give one a try today!

As you might expect, an RV mattress is made exclusive for a camper, RV, or other motorhome use. Read on for tips about an RV mattress.
]]>Well, a regular mattress you’d fit inside your home isn’t going to meet the necessary needs of your RV. See, an RV mattress is explicitly designed in many different areas such as size, shape, thickness, and other characteristics to fit the unique environment an RV provides.
For example, an RV mattress will often have a corner or two cut out to account for the sharp turns and condense space an RV’s inside offers. Therefore, you must know the exact parameters of the bed space you’re looking for a new RV mattress to fill.
In other words, when buying an RV mattress you must get the measurements exactly right to ensure the proper fitting mattress for your space.
In the end, the key is finding a high-quality mattress that fits the parameters of your RV perfectly. Once you decide on those two aspects, finding the right RV mattress won’t be much of an issue, and you should be well on your way to making your RV feel like a secondary home.
What is Far Infrared Rays technology?
The performance technology found in the ORB Performance by Off-Road Bedding is a high-tech patented coating on the mattress cover that transforms your body heat into Far Infrared Rays—reflected back to you as invisible waves of energy. Far Infrared Rays are unique in their ability to penetrate, soothe and stimulate the human body, helping you feel more energized and more well-rested.
Far Infrared Rays Technology is used in a number of industries with various applications, including:
What are the benefits of sleeping on a mattress with Far Infrared Rays technology?
Referred to as both “active recovery” and “smart fabric,” the ORB Performance cover utilizes Far Infrared Rays technology to harness and recycle the body’s natural energy throughout the sleep cycle. Far Infrared Rays technology is designed to help:
These benefits can help increase general well-being.
Does Far Infrared Rays performance technology really work?
Yes. Far Infrared Rays technology is based on the fundamental principle that heat is energy. Energy is safely and naturally transferred every day by one of three means: conduction, convection, and radiation. The transfer of energy in this case uses a thermo-reactive process to convert your body heat into Far Infrared Rays, safely recycled back into your body as energy.
Is Far Infrared Rays technology safe?
Yes. Products using Far Infrared Rays consist of a natural process that safely transfers invisible waves of energy back into your body. Far Infrared Rays are natural vasodilators, which is why the technology promotes a temporary increase in local blood flow.
Will Far Infrared Rays technology work if my skin is not in direct contact with the fabric?
Yes. The Far Infrared Rays re-emitted by the ORB's Performance any combination of sheets, blankets, mattress protectors or encasements, and sleepwear.
Will the reflection of Far Infrared Rays generate heat?
No. Far Infrared Rays will not increase the temperature of your bed.
What other factor should I consider when shopping for a mattress with responsive textiles?
Cooling Technology
The cooling properties of a mattress are critical—and based on science: a human’s actual skin temperature is 91 degrees but the ideal sleep temperature is 88 degrees.
Those in the market for a mattress should look for advanced cooling technology that, at minimum, creates a temperature neutral environment. The ORB Performance goes beyond temperature maintenance to advanced temperature moderation, infusing a state-of-the-art phase change molecule called TitanCool™ on the surface of the ORB Performance to moderate your temperature to the optimal 88 degrees.
How does it work? Cooling gel beads liquefy at higher temperatures to deliver cooling relief; those same beads solidify at lower temperatures to ensure an ideal sleep environment. An added infusion of copper also helps you sleep cooler while creating an antimicrobial sleep surface.
Personalization vs. One-Size-Fits-All
Some mattress manufacturers have adopted a one-size fits all approach, opting in most cases for a universal medium firmness. The ORB Performance is offered in three firmness levels, allowing you to better customize your sleep surface for your individual sleep needs.
All-Foam vs. Hybrid Construction
The ORB Performance offers the elite construction of a hybrid, pairing the key attributes of foam with individually encased coils. Individually encased coils deliver premium comfort and deep compression support. Because they respond independently to the contours of the human body, they provide enhanced, targeted pressure point relief. That independence also results in minimized sleep disturbance: because each coil compresses individually, motion transfer between sleep partners is greatly decreased. Individually encased coils are more durable—and they allow for greater airflow, which means a cooler, more comfortable night’s sleep.
Contouring Comfort vs. Responsiveness
Foam layers generally offer more conforming support that either reduces or eliminates pressure point pain—areas like shoulders and hips that can be sources of morning aches and pains. Foam beds contour to the curves of the body without putting too much pressure on those critical areas.
There are many different types of foam on the market. Choosing the right foam for your individual sleep needs will be important to enhancing your overall sleep experience.
Memory foam is considered a slow response foam, meaning that it may take a few seconds to return to its natural form after pressure is released. Some sleepers love that sink-ability, which gently relieves pressure points, while others are uncomfortable with what they describe as the quicksand feeling of memory foam.
Latex foam is a fast-response material that immediately returns to its shape after weight is removed—once again, some sleepers prefer that buoyancy, coupled with deep compression support, while others prefer less bounce.
While every sleeper is different, many agree that a combination of responsiveness and contouring is ideal. Latex alternative foams, like the TitanFlex™ foam used in the Spartan, bridge the gap between visco-elastic memory foam and latex. TitanFlex™ features immediate response technology that adjusts to your body each time you move, paired with just the right amount of contouring and conformability.
]]>Well, you’re not alone.
Please don't make the two mistakes we did!
]]>Still sleeping on the standard RV mattress that came with your RV, Toy Hauler, Sprinter, or Motorhome?
Well, you’re not alone.
When we bought our first toy hauler, we made two big mistakes:
Now think about this.
We had invested in a brand new, Toy Hauler in order to have the comforts of home while we were at the dunes, on the road, and at the campground. So why on earth did we skimp on the beds and bedding?
This makes zero sense, people!
We just accepted that we would come home from our extended trips with achy backs and necks.
And then the light bulb went off.
I could sleep as well in the trailer as I could in my bed at home with a pretty minimal investment. In fact, I was shocked when I realized how affordable some of the internet mattresses were.
RVers are now catching on to this way more quickly than we did. We hear tons of people wanting to upgrade their mattress. We say… Do it now. It’s worth it. You will NEVER regret investing in a good night’s sleep.
We highly recommend taking a look at the ORB Mattress Series. There is an option for everyone who just wants a better night sleep while on the road.
